Russell Lowe

Russell Lowe is a New Zealand based 3D artist and Senior Lecturer in Digital Design at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. He coordinates and teaches an “Experimental Gaming” stream within the newly established Digital Media Design degree. He has recently finished the third of a series of animated films with Federico Solmi; “King Kong and the End of the World”, The Giant” and “Rocco Never Dies”

For Russell Lowe these short films critique conventional and contemporary modes of (re)presentation by conflating long and real time animation technologies; destabilizing both with the painstaking hand drawing of every frame. See
www.machinima.org to learn about the real time animation techniques used in these video animation projects.
